At the end of the XVIIIᵉ century, Besançon had two public gardens: Chamars and Granvelle. Hygienist theories and the urgent need to restore the existing promenades would lead the Besançon town councillors to develop new promenades throughout the XIXᵉ century. A tour to discover the history of our public gardens, from Micaud Park to the Granvelle Promenade, via the Garden of the Senses and Saint-Amour Square.
