The Citadelle of Besançon, in partnership with Capture4cad and Heritage Virtuel, invites the public to discover the interactive exhibition "Citadelle 3D, fortified reality". Visitors will be able to enjoy a unique immersive experience made possible by the meticulous digitisation and modelling work carried out over several months at the Citadelle.
The exhibition takes visitors on a journey through time using real-time virtual reality. Visitors are invited to experience their first day as a "cadet" at the Citadelle. Participants (up to 4 per session) will be able to interact with their environment and with each other. They will be guided by one of their (virtual!) comrades, who will show them the various activities that punctuated cadet life.
But the exhibition also has other surprises in store:
-A touch table showing 3 key periods in the development of the Besançon Citadel: the
pre-Vauban" period (1668 - 1674), the Citadel's golden age (1675 - 1714) and the 19th century (1830 - 1895).
-Digital film on the hidden areas of the citadel (from the cellars to the roofs and the inside of the well).
the well).
-3D impressions of the Citadel mill and the church of Saint-Etienne, which until the French conquest occupied the site
where the first front of the Citadel is today.
-3D modelling of exceptional objects (a military canteen and the golden cannon from the Musée de l'Armée).
-Experiments in situ on smartphone via QR Code to observe buildings that have disappeared or are inaccessible and understand how the well works.
As part of the Lense project, Vesontio révélé, winner of the 2022 prize under the Ministry of Culture's IVth Investment Programme for the Future*, the Citadelle was digitised in its entirety over a two-year period by the company
Capture4Cad (Saône), using drones and a robot dog. The aim of this innovative project was to put in place a protocol for the conservation and enhancement of historic monuments, working in particular on the site of the Citadelle Vauban and historic monuments in the centre of Besançon. The complete and accurate modelling of the Citadelle using these data by the company
Virtual Heritage, visitors can now rediscover the monument in a whole new light.
During a workshop, 3 activities specially designed for children will plunge them into the world of the builders of yesteryear. They will learn how to recreate fortifications and vaults using fun materials:
-Magic sand workshop: in the manner of Vauban, you can create your own fortifications using
magic sand.
-Vault workshop: put yourself in the shoes of a builder and build a vault using building blocks.
-Construction workshop: using the elements provided, you can reconstruct a building from the Besançon Citadel.
