For the 11th year, Soroptimist International Besançon will be taking part in the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
The film "JULIE SE TAIT" by Leonardo Van Dijl, starring Tessa Van Den Broeck, will be screened at the Megarama Beaux Arts cinema in Besançon.
The film deals with sexual violence in sport:
Julie, a rising tennis star playing for a prestigious club, devotes her whole life to her sport. When the coach who could propel her to the top is suddenly suspended and an investigation launched, all the players at the club are encouraged to share their stories.
But Julie decides to keep quiet..,
The screening will be followed by a short discussion.
Finally, to round off the evening, discussions can continue over a drink provided by
hosted by Club members.
This event is organised in partnership with the "25 Novembre" group of associations.
Proceeds from the screening will be used to fund grassroots projects to combat violence against women.
Under the impetus of their NGO, which is known worldwide for its various actions to promote equality for women, girls and children, Soroptimists are at the heart of action everywhere, facilitating meetings and partnerships between the various associations, decision-makers and public authorities.
Soroptimist International (SI) is present in 124 countries around the world, with over 72,000 members in 3,000 clubs, including 108 clubs in France with 2,200 members: "women serving women".
SI was founded in the United States in 1921 and imported to France in 1924 by Suzanne Noël, the first female plastic surgeon and committed feminist who was able to restore dignity to "the broken-hearted".
The SI motto is: understand, defend, undertake.
The objectives are decided at European, national or local level and the areas of action are the education of women and girls, the empowerment and leadership of women, the fight against violence against women, health, the environment and sustainable development.
