The permanent Grandes Heures Nature trail area accredited by the FFA: Uni'Vert Trail! Departing from La Rodia, this route will take you up the Chaudanne hill to discover the Fort de Chaudanne, on a gentle up-and-down route. You'll enjoy exceptional panoramic views of the old town and the Citadel from the Fort, as you wind your way along small single-track paths amidst an exceptional natural and historical heritage.
After an initial warm-up to climb to the foot of Vauban's Citadel, you'll make your way quietly back down to the Gare d'Eau to walk along the Doubs to the Chemin de Mazagran, the start of the ascent to the Fort de Chaudanne. The ascent takes you through woodland at the foot of the Fort, from where you can enjoy an exceptional view of the Citadel and the old town, before continuing on to Petit Chaudanne via the dry grasslands of Chaudanne. You will then climb back up to the level of the old fortifications before circling them and then descending along the Doubs to return to the starting point by river.
