Covering more than 600 hectares, this large wetland is the water accumulation area of a large catchment area that extends as far as Gonsans and Mamirolle. Its only outlet is the Arcier springs, whose moderate flow leads to run-off accumulating in the marsh in the event of heavy rainfall.
This results in the presence of typical marsh vegetation, adapted to variations in water level; willow, alder and birch are the species most commonly found in this sensitive natural area.
This remarkable wetland is also home to a rare butterfly, whose name recalls the environment it frequents: the Marsh Copper.
The idea behind the Saône marsh discovery trails was to develop the site in such a way as not to "denature" it in any way, offering you a real immersion between land and water.
Please note that during periods of flooding, you will have to postpone your visit for obvious safety reasons.
After the "Understanding the marsh" connecting trail, you can choose between two loops: "The water loop" and "The natural environment loop".
